It's worth noting that Tonberries can't seem to overwrite Distract III with Sigh. RDM is excellent this month.
If i had to guess turning with JA0 during an animation may lead to SA still procing even if on your end you are looking the at mob.

Tested it by back-tanking in one fight since the Boss hits like a wet noodle anyway and the shadow still appeared wherever my back was. That's a good point, I forgot he positions based on the targets direction. The server would still register you as facing a direction during your "animation" but with ja0 we are facing the shade locally. Comparable to when you see someone running from fullers mid weaponskill animation and they are facing Kei on your screen but running away on theirs. Asura.Viska

Whelp at least this month is amusing when everyone caps hate. I certainly second the delay on facing though, takes a second for sure between what you are facing locally and when the mob backstabs you.

Any experience on more efficient damage types? Anyone tried using Leaden/Trueflight setups?
*edit: tested magic ws setup. Complete dogsh*t. Using them to pop the eles on first smn does make this fight a breeze though. I've run BLU so far really well for this month's. Geist Wall dispels Sigh just fine. Dark dispels yay, light dispels boo (finale and gaze resisted every time)
We haven't tried VD yet (we've only messed around a little bit Friday night w/it), but on D we were straight up ignoring the elementals. My SAM friend and I (BLU) were alternating light skillchains and just overwhelming the hp restored from the elementals getting AF off. After that it was just normal kills and being careful to not pull off our tank (we had a PLD; he was struggling a bit and having to work at keeping his threat. I think he switched one of his songs to the enm+ one) We were kinda tired when we tried VD so not playing the best; not sure if the ignore the eles and overwhelm the SMN will work there or not. I did however have to turn off my bon jovi music and tell my wife to stfu. So I can try and comprehend this. Even with the google translate, a lot this makes sense. I thought it was curious that the DRG did Shellcrusher in the beginning but I hadn't even noticed the boss had high Magic Defense/MDT.
I may need to do a quick test on a lower difficulty just to observe if Tomahawk will make a noticeable difference in skillchain damage. Offline

The same as any and every other (not smn burn)shout.
RUN > BRD > COR > GEO > WHM > The other trash that pretends to be in the game (*) Not the order of best, but the order of likelihood. NEED a tank, no one wants to be tank. BRD is nonnegotiable but no one will ever shout as the bard. COR/GEO are the most likely to be the shouter. WHM is usable but not required over a lesser. Maybe it'll be useful next time we have Tonberries. The Tonberry fight - an Ambuscade where Darkness skillchains shine. Composition: RUN, DRG, WAR, COR, RDM, GEO. Including the adds, there's about 3,000,000 enemy HP total, so this round of Ambuscade has quite a lot of HP. Starting rolls: Samurai, Allies. Just before the Random Deal between rolls, the WAR uses Warcry to get its cooldown reset. Geomancy: Indi-Fury, Geo-Frailty. There's only the SMN Tonberry at the start, so we just wipe it out fast. Now the attackers split into two groups. WAR and COR deal with the adds, while DRG handles the boss. DRG opens* with Shell Crusher. The adds are dealt with in the order of BLM, THF, THF (trigger Perfect Dodge), NIN, THF, THF (after Perfect Dodge). The DRG burns down the boss using Darkness skillchains. WAR uses Warcry, which had been reset at the start, and Tomahawks the boss. The boss has 50% magic mitigation, so once there are only THF adds left, the COR joins in on skillchains on the boss so that Inundation can take effect. When the boss uses Light of Condemnation on the DRG, the DRG uses High Jump/Super Jump to make the boss's Darkness skillchain fail to activate. Right after the end of skillchain, you can squeeze in Savage Blade/Ukko's Fury without interfering with the Sonic Thrust used to open skillchain. You can also SB/UF during the animation lock for Super Jump. If you can beat the boss without missing Spirit Jump early into the fight or using Super Jump, you might be able just make a sub-3-minute clear. * as in opens the fight, not opens a skillchain |
