Making a crappy bard, but want to make sure and hit the essentials. What songs will I be using, minuet/madrigal/prelude/ballad/carol/march - anything I'm missing? Basically, I want to get a +3 instrument if it's available.

For buffs, add in Sentinals and Mazurka.
For debuffs on the mob, get Elegy, Threnody, and Lullaby

Might need more, but that is what a few of my LS members get on their Bard mules

Forgetting the most important: magic finale. Dispeling is very important specially in delve, but if the brd dont have enough gear, it just wont land. The others debuffs are nice to have, but wont fail the run if they dont stick. Finale will, though.

Yea, meant to add Finale to that list, but forgot to type it for some reason.

Do Montenten's thf spreadsheets account for Vajras 30% dmg to sa and ta, as well as the 30% boost to mandalic stab? Assuming so but I don't know how/where to check :x

There is no known cap, which makes it a great stat to stack. There is an effective cap that's limited by the available sources of the various forms of defense down, though:
* "Defense Down" - 33% from Tourbillion (which never lands) or 25% from enhanced Angon
* "Dia" - 25% from Dia III + Light Shot or Dia II + 2x Light Shot or Dia + 3x Light Shot
* "Sluggish Daze" - 13% from Level 5 Box Step
* Geomancer "Defense Down" - -13% Defense (I think) from Indi- or Geo-Frailty

So the "cap" is technically -84%, but realistically the cap is -76% because Tourbillion never lands. That's the same as increasing everyone's attack by a factor of 4, which is why sources of Defense Down were such an integral part of pre-iLevel Tojil zerg strategies.

Thanks for answer, but what about stacking geo and indi frailty?

Sources of Defense Down that share the same name/source typically don't stack. I haven't specifically tested with indi/geo-frailty, but I assume they don't stack.

25% from Bilgestorm as well for the main Defense Down category. Has double the potential duration of Angon and can be used more frequently in a zerg!

I've been back to the game for a little over a week now. I have all my spark gear and am starting to accumulate 109 gear for my pld and thf.

1) How do I know when I am geared enough for delve and skirmish?
-How do I even go about starting these?
-Is there a certain order in which this content or fights within these event types should be done?

2) I've been farming dynamis again, but I want to start soloing salvage. What is the best area to solo for alex, and is there a guide or video that I should look for?

Thanks.

Are the VW specific crafting mats (pil's tuille, etc) red or blue light?

EDIT: As in, do they share the same slot as r/ex gears?

Yes they share the top slot with the ra/ex gear so they are effected by red light.

Hmmmm dia3 only has 15% def down, how come Dia3+ light shot gives 25%? I always thought you get 20% after light shots.

dia3 is 15% base and each light shot gives 5% up to a cap of 20%

Why does FFXIDB have linen pouch(Alex) as a 119% drop rate from Kyrptokhimera? The other Salvage II bosses have >100% drop rates for Alex pouches too. Are people duping or can these drop 2x pouches under a certain situation or what?

I knew someone who was coming out of salvage with many thousands of alexandrite every time, I believe he's banned or quit though. Truthfully I have no evidence other than him providing an unrealistic amount of alexandrite with only 1 character salvaging. Would not doubt the possibility of a dupe though. Other people on Phoenix probably know of him, Kinffmstr and whatever his mule was.

Can some one who uses the DPS spreadsheets tell me what this Set Ratios # is on the Setup page?

Edit: Nvm. Figured out the problem I was having and it had nothing to do with this.

Is there any way to tell if a certain character name is taken? I thought about using FFXIAH but that only uses names of people who have signed /verified for FFXIAH accounts right? Basically I want to transfer one of my mules to another server and change its name to something cooler but is there a way to tell if it's been taken already? Can a GM assist me with something like that?

pretty sure ffxiah has character info as long as the character has done some sort of AH transaction. At least mules that i've never registered exists on this site - just no info apart from AH history

Friend of mine was unfortunate enough to transfer here and his name was taken by someone that never made a transaction on that character so he had to change it. If you have a free character or dollar to spare you could try making a character with whatever name you want to check or "reserve" before making the transfer.

If you select the name but then dont complete the character creation is the name still stored or is it freed up again?

I'd imagine the name is free up until you start the first in-game cutscene after finishing the character creation.

Hi.

I have a question, that answer is prolly no, but will ask anyway.
Suposing a party of 2 split, both going to cirdas U, but one trhough delve, and the other by skirmish. Can they share the pool?

Was thinking in salvage in this case. Need to start my marduk legs +1, but this gear is so time consuming, would like to know what tricks i can use to speed up this process.

Thanks in advance.

that's what instances are for.

You would indeed be in the same zone, but in different copies of it.

So the answer is : prolly no.

Instanced = no you cant share drops.

Non-instanced = yes you can share once you get out of(bcnms) or during(limbus).
