Checked as IT.. right on my screen door as I obliviously charged into the room. I didn't think it was a huntsman because of the tan coloring vs the rain forest brown that I'm used to. But I guess that's natural selection for you. All the spiders out here are pretty mutated now ' ' The daddy long legs look like giant blue cattle ticks with 8 legs out here...

here is a red back I ran into a couple of weeks ago on my fence. Stuck my hand right into it's web as it was very close to the lifty thingy that opens my gate. There was another huntsman like that ^ around so I thought it was just a huntsman's web... but huntsmen spiders don't make webs ; ; they're of the ground dwelling/ hunting (as apposed to trapping) variety. Then a minute later this tiny BAMF crawls out:






I know she's a bit hard to see, but she was only small and I didn't want to get too close, if you understand where I'm coming from lol.

So Australia has big spiders.

Didn't know that.

Australia has ancient spiders (Tarantula evolved out of shooting their hairs at prey ect ect). Africa may have one or two bigger spiders but they're mostly tarantula. We definitely have a variety though that's for sure.

snakes are cooler. I've only seen one wild since I've been out here. Pretty nice black headed python on the road home from town. Makes me think Stevo was full of crap the way he'd just be driving along and BAM king brown, CRIKEY... Oh well it's only happened to me once, and late at night (You don't see ***during the day)

GAHH! omg warn me next time, I HATE spiders! They are crawly and creepy and give me nightmares. Note to self: Stop clicking on random threads! D:

we have CAMELS out here. I like the mammalian version more anywho.
Besides we have funnel webs. They scare me more then a camel spider would.

This is why I could never live in Australia. Or places with camels.

Haha sorry. But you did scroll down after the dude said "do you have any pics of huntsman spiders" that should of been warning enough :P Besides I've lived here a good six years on and off, and I'm a very unsafe bushman (I walk around outside at night with flip flops on...) and I've never been bit. Although I almost got bit at the venom zoo ; ; that's why I don't pick up tarantula anymore..
