Marijuana Should Be Legalized
Am i right or am i right?
We have enough lazy pot heads and teenage boys comparing everything good to weed instead of sex.
No. Marijuana can be a bad influence upon others, just the same as many OTHER drugs and should NOT be legalized.
It has barely any or less harmful effects than alcohol. Really
I'd rather not walk around my campus or the store smelling that crap.
We don't need the kids walking the streets any more mentally impaired than they are already. Keep that ***on the low and inside your own house. Bahamut.Avenged said: It has barely any or less harmful effects than alcohol. Really I strongly disagree with that, it has been proven to dull one's senses and slowly bring about SEVERE loss of motor skills. Such a thing should not be accessible by others, especially people who may or may not have an addictive personality. Doesn't alcohol do that? i think it should restricted to adults like alcohol

It has a worse effect then alcohol, it causes users to grow long dirty hair, wear dirty clothes, listen to and play crappy music and blame everyone else for their problems.
EDIT:

America already tried with prohibition but we all know that didnt last long. last time congress voted for legalization or marijuana it lost with 2 votes. and it takes 8 years for it to be able to try again and that was 4 years ago. so four more years til we try again
If alcohol and cigarettes are legal i dont see why marijuana should be illegal. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5g11SRHRYdrp_hpd_a-b0QlBqZmpgD9BLJECO0
Britains top drug advisor was fired after saying marijuana was less dangerous than alcohol. Sure it can be harmful, but no more than harmful than stuff anyone 18+ can buy at any shop now. Until I see an educated presentation of why weed should be legal instead of these stupid alcohol comparisons, I say keep it the way it is.
Regardless if it is legalized you can still get it *** too easy, if you get caught with it, your just a *** moron, and its the principle of the idea.
If they do legalize it, where does it end? I'm not totally against it being legalized, but if it is, it should be heavily controlled, much in the same way as alcohol. For example, you can't leave a bar and walk home with an open beer, and you can't drive after drinking. If marijuana became legal, the same restrictions should apply, because it's also a mind-altering substance.
With that said, I don't smoke pot(or tobacco), and don't see the point in anyone else doing it. But like tobacco, if someone else wants to do it in the privacy of their home, I don't object to it as long as it doesn't adversely affect people around them. I'd rather have it legalized than worry about future generations, and what might be in questionable drugs. If the government sold it and regulated it, I don't see the big deal. I do NOT smoke pot.
Not only do marijuana related cases costs our courts MILLIONS but the marijuana industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. The taxes from that alone would give a huge boost to our economy. It's also a silly belief that the US will become a crazy pot-headed zombified nation. Maybe for a year I would bet. I've already seen 5 people on this forum that said that they wouldn't smoke pot. Making it legal just means that the same people that have been smoking it will be able to do so under a different system. So what's the big deal? Just more for people to complain about. No, it shouldn't be. As a collective country, America is as dumb as they get. Let's not give them a reason to further their stupidity.

Britains top drug advisor gave a presentation on why it should be legalised, though he was sacked for it. And ridiyia its not addictive, no where near as addictive as cigarettes. Marijuana should be legalized. Think of how many people die from it each year.
Then compare that to how many thousands die from cigarettes. Compare that to how many thousands die from alcohol. Its a no brainer. Real normally grown pot should be legal, not that crazy boosted ***a lot of people are selling. There is a huge difference between both.
Right, so is alcohol. Your point? Marijuana, yes. Heavier narcotics, cocaine, heroine, methamphetamine, no.
The enforcement of drug policy is the sole reason why prisons are so crowded today. Drugs that have no more detrimental affect on you than alcohol. Hell, even driving under weed, you can't possibly go fast. 25mph scared the hell out of me. Alcohol, however, you're stupid and dangerous. The fear of it and the stigma comes from the early 1900s during drug prohibition. Enjoy
And, just for kicks and giggles... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemp_for_Victory Just to preempt the gateway drug theories... Studies have shown that tobacco smoking is a better predictor of concurrent illicit hard drug use than smoking cannabis. No widely accepted study has ever demonstrated a cause-and-effect relationship between the use of cannabis and the later use of harder drugs like heroin and cocaine. Citation <3 you wiki Last but not least, if we legalized it and taxed it properly, the economy would be doing great. Shiva.Xellith said: Marijuana should be legalized. Weed should be legal, plain and simple. I'll bet most of you cannot explain why its illegal, unless you have seen this movie.
http://www.hulu.com/search?query=totally+baked If you do not have an account with Hulu, create one, then watch the movie. If you think you know what you are talking about, STFU, watch the movie, then tell me if you still think it should be illegal. Oh, and weed DOES NOT impair motor skills in everyone like alcohol does, its a case by case situation. Also, watch the 420 Episode of Family Guy (yes he said watch a cartoon show). The information is actual truth, not twisted ***to show how stupid pot can make you. It doesn't matter whether or not it's legalized because you can still get it so easy and it's not really hard to hide, just keep it in your house and don't go around smelling like crap. Also, are we forgetting that alcohol WAS banned before because of it's harmful effects? That failed, just like making cannabis illegal failed, people are still getting it and people are still using it.
EDIT: Cannabis = weed btw.. Geh, everyone I know well who uses/used it and defends it against being a gateway drug has gone on to experiment other stuff. Each one of them says it's just because they would have tried other stuff out of curiosity anyway, and that they individually know they're an/"the" exception. That term just bugs me. :[
(I'm not saying it is, but it seems to attract this type that kind of makes me want to /facepalm. @them - Your side of an argument kind of loses its power if even your own experiences don't support your idea.) Post placement might be a little off because of how fast this thread is going. For legalization, btw. Sylph.Otsego said: its a case by case situation.
A good friend of mine drives better and plays sports better when drunk. Since its also a case by case situation I think he should be the exception of the rule and allowed to dui. |
