Term Filter

I was away for a little bit and during my absence they implemented this Term Filter thing. I'm following the directions here, made sure my directory was an appropriate place, and regardless of how I cut this cake, it ain't doin' the thing.

"Unable to find prohibited.txt.
Create C:\blah\blah\Windower\ffxiuser in prohibited.txt to active the Term Filter."

Anybody have any experience troubleshooting this thing? I'd love to block Dennis and Locta for the rest of eternity.

Their filter? Why are you in the windower folder.

C:\Users\Eiryl\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XI\ffxiuser\prohibited.txt

I manually changed the directory in FFXI Config (the guide has instructions on how to change directory if you want to) because the original path didn't work either.

Alternatively, there is just no ffxiuser folder. I had to make it myself. Is that normal?

That's part of the process, yes

If the directory is aimed properly then it should work. Go in config 4 and turn it on.

I have a question on how to actually have messages be filtered by this. I am trying to filter the Job Points shouts but cannot seem to do it with this.

I am able to filter other messages that use special characters but I have absolutely no clue how to filter following shout: Job Points 500p/5m 2100p/20m master0-20/15m 20-30/30m 30-40/90m Buy? /tell

I tried all combinations of 500p/5m and other parts of this message. It cannot be filtered and I am at a loss.

I tried testing the filter by adding the different terms used in the shout to the prohibited.txt, but whatever I add, it never filters the entire shout.

If you put (is)Buy that kills most of them

Add anything they all use.

and nothing filters it. The shout must be hitting some kind of character limit or something else because none of the terms trigger the filter but if used indiviually with fewer characters, it works.

Oh lord, I'm loving this. Actually the only line you need is:

(is)[0-9]m

This filters basically any price in millions, be it written in whatever fancy way:
1 M / H
20M
3m/h
500 m

The massive downside (...) is that your buddies who always shout for parties with "3 Moogle" also get silenced. Or well any number followed by any word starting with "m"... Realistically speaking mainly PUGs shouting for: "x/y members" where y is any number, but I bet you don't care if you read this. If you do care, it's easy enough to adjust (by putting "(i)member" or similar terms in your allowed.txt e.g.) For increased safety I simply do:

(is)clearmind
(is)autoinvite
(is)buy
(is)mercenary
(is)[0-9]m

So cool!

There's wildcards, inverse matching, ranges, even nesting!...and the whitelist overwrites the blacklist, so even if you block all merc yells but whitelist, let's say:
"(i)odyssey" you will still see those. Neat!
(not so much because of the odyssey merc...)

And last but not least, you don't have to switch the setting to re-apply, just re-apply/press the same button you're currently using and swoosh, done!
