That's pretty much what I did as well. If you're serious about completing your Mog Garden Cheer pokedex, you should probably advance to the point where you can name them their interaction, food, and what species you intend for them to become (in the case of multiple branches to their path).
does anyone know how to augment the Farr Torque? I’m not able to find any info on it on any wiki or here for that matter.

Use Alloy Tonics, that’s all I really know.

A little looking turned up this, but it doesn't say who to turn it into. There are only a few NPCs that deal with Monstrosity though, so process of elimination should net you some results.
This thread is about Mog Garden monster rearing, and I think you need to be looking into Monstrosity which is why you may be finding nothing.
