that's sad to hear. I guess we old head gamers in our late 30s are a smaller demographic than we hoped we were.
I mean, it's a good idea.
Think about it, in a "game's world" a billion things happen that the player will never get to know about. How often do you get a chance to expand the original story with new stuff. Every time a game ends, that's the end of cloud tifa barret etc forever. (outside of weird ***like KH)
Not the biggest fan of the battle style, but turn based is a little outdated.

I do agree with your sentiment Eiryl- there's a lot of good that may come from this decision. But so many of us out there wanted a port to a higher quality platform, not much else. We've got too much history of SE mucking things up in the past decade vs successes.

I still remain concerned just because of the release date slotted for March '20. It doesn't make a ton of sense. I thought they were getting out of the way of a sales juggernaut this holiday..but there isn't one. Cyberpunk 2077 is April '20, so in that sense, getting ahead of this game is at least a good move. It's pretty obviously because the fiscal year ends in March, which is the same reason why Animal Crossing is coming out then as well.

Edit: And we prolly wont get to see anything we wanted in the end anyway, no crossdressing cloud, no oldshool game machines no knight of the rounds in HD and no hidden chars like Yuffie and Vincent because that would stretch the whole thing to 12 episodes.
Going from what was served and how it was served the last decade and especiallyy taking 15 as prime example, predicting this one isnt hard.
Edit: And we prolly wont get to see anything we wanted in the end anyway, no crossdressing cloud, no oldshool game machines no knight of the rounds in HD and no hidden chars like Yuffie and Vincent because that would stretch the whole thing to 12 episodes.

Yeah well, going from my FF15 experience. I buy it used, finish it before first DLC is out and never touch it again.
Thats as much as 15 was worth for me. So it seems FF7 = instead of retared story expanding DLCs, we now get it in Episodes.
Still the same money grab just another package.
I'd say 6 hours on a casual playthrough where you don't know what you're doing, 4 if you do. Most will sit and grind on fights and look for hidden ***and buy upgrades they don't need because grenades exist.

Highly doubt we would see Vincent in the first disk regardless of how far the story goes. But at the very least we should have seen Yuffie, unless they stop right at Junon side of the cave.
There's going to be a lot of negative feedback when the game is released, due from story-progression speed alone.

Some people have kinda gone of the rails in their pessimism. Of course Vincent and Yuffie will be in this saga. Will they be in the first installment? No, probably not. But I also don't think we will just have the core four for the first 30+ hours of the story. I imagine Red XIII will find his way into the party, and most likely Cait Sith. Does that match up with the original game? No. Does that matter? Not to me.
