- disable shadows
- disable weather
- disable window effect

- /hidetrust on
- /localsettings blureffect off

Depending on your system you might want to install project mercury and enable "no CC switching"

The game has and probably always will run like utter crap

It sounds like you may need to upgrade your PC?

I had a lot of the same issues but then I bought a new PC (Decked out, too) and I only experience a SMALL frame drop when 5-boxing at Apex Eft (usually PACKED)

Stop plugging this garbage, it doesn't actually do anything useful for 99% of users.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/procthread/priority-boosts

Windows has done it on it's own forever. It's a creative idea, I'll give you that. But, windows already has it implemented so unless you have some really really weird priorities set then PM does nothing.

@Daneblood, thx a lot i'll try that!

@Yandaime

i dont think i Need to upgrade my pc, what would u suggest?

im using an icore i7 3770Gpu 3.40ghz, i have 8gb ddr3 ram, geforcenvidia gtx 660, windows 10 64bit,

so u never experience low fps? not even in crowed areas with lots of people and monsters? omen, dynamis, cp camps? if so would u mind telling ure specs and what u run the game with?

If you run crap resolutions you will not get low fps.
but compared to what would be a moderne day resolution ( above 1080p) the game just runs crap. it wants high core speeds
That why I run my mules in smaller windows they never lag.

also its highly subejtive what peopel percieved as laggy.
if im not able to run the game as a contants 60fps) i consider it laggy in this case

Nope. Never. The only time my FPS drops below 30 is literally Apex Eft camp where there are 10-million players and their trusts and bubbles and I'm 5-boxing.

This game is known to be completely trash at how it handles graphics and will try to run everything on ONE core if Im not mistaken?

My brother built this PC for me so let me try to recite the specs accurately:

Number of cores 8 (max 8)

Memory Frequency 1333.0 MHz (3:40)
CAS# latency (CL) 20.0
RAS# to CAS# delay (tRCD) 19
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 19
Cycle Time (tRAS) 43
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 62
Command Rate (CR) 1T
Uncore Frequency 1333.0 MHz

That's the most pertinent information I could pull from a quick CPUID CPU-Z pull. But yea, I almost never experience frame rate drops in this game. The only time it happens is when I'm SUPER LOADED. Any other time? Never.

Edit:

I play my main on max Resulution (Whatever max actually counts for in this game is lul) and everyone else is Stock. Shadows, Weather, etc.

Anything over 30fps on this game isn't lag, and that system should run it just fine, I'd just turn off more of your effects during battle.

How updated is your video card? That’s really the only thing I can think of. Before I got this PC, veritical confluxes used to murder me. If it’s true that this game only uses one visual core at a time, updating that should solve the problem I think. This game’s graphics are very poor (because this game is very old) so it should be able to run fine with what you have without playing with the settings. I think if you upgrade your visual, you’ll be fine

Hello,
I'm curious how people experience the game. This is an old game and i have been used to it to have low fps sometimes. Tough lately I'm worried how the fps varries and i wonder if it could be more stable at all? So I've been trying to improve the Performance. I've turned off some effects in ingame misc, lowered some Setting in ffxi config, installed ffxivodoo. Sometimes my fps are really good and high 40-60. This happens mainly in cities, mog house, low crowd Areas. What is quite interesting, sometimes f.e in ambuscade i can maintain a pretty good fps the game is running smooth. However, where my game usually Drops Performance a lot is in doh gates in Cp Partys when a lot Mobs are pulled, if only 1 mob it works a lot better. I didnt test it yet but i exspect the same in Dynamis and omen. Too many People together with too many Monsters make the fps drop to like 15 or worse quite a lot.

So my Question: Is this normal? Have some People the same Problem, were u able to fix it and if so how? Or is it just the game being old and badly optimised? What could i do to improve my Frame rate, is the fps go low everything is slow for me I notice the controls like macros or targeting is slower than usual, so it affects Gameplay what is not so good.

Sry for my english, it could be better. My apologies, thx for any advice!

I only have issues in Dyna D and my fps is stable there but the ping is terrible. Like macro press takes 2seconds to work sometimes.

dual/tribox apex efts, 18man alliances else where, AFAC burns, all are perfect fps. Dyna D does need to be optimized.

In Dynamis D as COR, because of 3 sec delay for action to happen after I click it, if I need to double-up more than 5 times and use Snake Eye, then I usually fail to roll XI in time...
