Back on topic, the last page or two are exactly why my first post here was 'good luck'. I know picking a mod won't be easy for them.
Why not just use the other people considered from last time?
Because perhaps the other people considered last time haven't applied. In fact I seem to recall that most of the people considered last time didn't want it then either, it was just the regulars saying they'd be good. Regardless of what some people may think, it's not a popularity contest, and again, as Baelorn says, personality doesn't even really come into it for the most part.
For instance, I'm quite confident that I could do the job quite well regardless of the fact that many people dislike me. However, I don't want it because A: I'd have to spend a lot more time here than I really should be with my school and B: I'd have to stop trolling people.

I also want to say, I remember back before aly was a mod. Back when she was just as weird and goofy as all of us. Only difference now is you can't be as liberal with your posting lol.

Not really when Mods have final say. Every can see the past 25 posts of anyone that has posted in the forums. That right there is enough to show how they are on the forums.

What if the nominee didnt want to become a mod, only way this would work is if the mods chose the best three applicants if they couldnt decide who was best, then let us vote. Even then, still think its best for the mods to decide

That shouldn't matter. Being a forum mod is a lot like a job. You may be an *** or a goofball but when you go to work it is time to be professional.
I'm sure some people will say that's looking at it too seriously but it can be a lot like a second job.
But when it comes time to draw the line no one takes you seriously. That's why forum attitude should be checked and that's the best way. Most mods on forums that I've lurked were people that rarely posted and only posted to state their minds/thoughts when no one else made a similar post.
