I've realized that over the years I've noticed profiles get removed as well as jobs/missions are no longer displayed. Be it that they stopped playing or got banned and any other reason.

I was talking on voice chat with a friend, and I came up with an idea.

There should be a way to freeze profile data so that even if your profile gets removed from the LSC, or that somehow the data becomes unlinked for the reasons i mentioned before, the profile on FFXIAH will always stay the same in kind of a "locked" sense.

I look at some of the older profiles like Minidragon for instance and it sucks to no longer see any public record of all his accomplishments... more for himself then anyone else.

From a website coding standpoint this should actually be a very simple feature to implement. Basically if you unlock the profile just make people re-verify their character again. I noticed it saves relic data/maat's cap but it would just be nice to see the other half.

Just food for thought and "inb4" epeen and useless flame reply's.

I would think it would be more of a bandwidth issue. Only certain, simple things are saved and recorded. Like you said, one of them are relics I assume. That being said, only a few hundred relics exist. There are hundreds of thousands of players, and at one point were millions that this site kept track of.

However, none of it was really the site's doing in itself, but the community site and however they choose to get the AH information. Saving, and backing up a few hundred thousand people's pages for what really is a low-man run site that is non-profit seems exceptionally unrealistic imo. Your idea is valid, yes. But ya gotta keep in mind that this is really a small site that gets it's resources from elsewhere as it just passes through.

Well the thing is, once the profile information has been added/verified, there is no further bandwidth being used until you que for update.

That being said when you freeze your profile it allows no further data to be checked by the LSC, actually DECREASING the bandwidth and potential bandwidth.

In short, Once the profile data is added it no longer uses bandwidth. Nothing but mere text/html data.

I'm no gewd with a PC, but when it goes to your profile, isn't it under the LS community site still? @_@ Just updates at it's own pace after the community site does? xD

Whatever. Bring back your duck avatar. >:(

If you're registered, FFXIAH -generally- won't update unless you tell it to. That's a big guess but I've seen people that had their last scan a very long time ago.

For reasons that I can't remember, I didn't display characters that didn't have a valid LSC URL. I think it was because some people unlinked their characters from the LSC and didn't like the fact I was displaying old stats for themselves.

Nevertheless, I keep all the data and will display it regardless of valid LSC URL, until I see a good reason not too. Keep in mind, you will need a valid LSC URL to be counted for achievements points.

Is there a way to show who is "frozen" though? Since they are now inactive~ Or will they just not show achievement points?

Oh holy crap so scragg was way ahead of me on this, yeah it would be nice to add an area that says "This information is archived" or something close to it.

But isn't that the reason you have check boxes that say "Hide <insert section>" in case people don't want that displayed?

It seems as if this idea is already in motion but the options for it aren't in place.

The whole reason i even asked for this is because someday/somehow when i actually stop playing FFXI i would like to check back and remember all the good times and accomplishments.

I have to say that FFXIAH has become my personal record keeper and goal setter.

Oh and i think a good place to show inactive/frozen message would be where the achievement points WOULD be. Since there is obviously nothing there at this time.
