The mom told WMC she snapped a photo of the brake light on a Durham School Services bus in Cordova.
“Anyone who fears a God, if not God and Jesus Christ, should be outraged,” said the mother, who was not identified because she is reportedly receiving death threats after sharing the photo on social media.
The mother says it’s appalling the brake lights are shaped like a pentagram.
“If you can’t put a cross on there, you can’t put a pentagram on it,” she said.
The woman pointed to Walgreen’s decision last year to remove wrapping paper from its shelves because images on the paper appeared to be those of swastikas.
“Would we allow a swastika, for instance, to be on the back of the bus?” said the mother.
One woman, who identified herself as a practicing Wiccan, looked at the photo and said it did look like a pentagram. But she says the symbol is the same for her faith as the cross is for Christians.
“Wiccans… we believe in God, we believe in Jesus, but we don’t call him God,” said Jo Applewhite. “Find out what it really means before you start getting riled up and all worked up about something.”
Applewhite says people may be making a fuss over nothing.
“Go find out if it was intentional,” she said.
School district officials have not publicly commented on the school bus lights.

(Didn't seem to bring them any luck) The "reversed" swastika used by the Nazi Party has appeared every bit as often as the "regular" one. There was no meaningful difference between the two before Hitler adopted it. The big change he made, which had still been done before, was tilting it up on an angle. And, for those interested, he adopted it to link the German people with the Aryan people... who are today called Iranians. Weird ***.
As for the OP, it reminds me of a favorite author of mine, Terry Pratchett. One of his books is called Carpe Jugulum and features vampires who have worked to overcome their weakness to traditional things like garlic, sunlight, and... religious symbols, of course. They use regular exposure to achieve the effect and when their conditioning is eventually broken (spoiler: the bad guys lose), part of it is because they've been taught to see religious symbols everywhere, not unlike how classic vampire hunters can always find a convenient piece of furniture to break or bend into a cross shape.
She's Wicca. She's on the news. There's a strong correlation between these two factors and being a shameless attention ***.

I believe the mother and the Wiccan are two different people. I guess they used the Wiccan as some sort of source for the symbology. Unless I'm reading it wrong. Ah, you're right, I did read it wrong. Christians and attention-whoring aren't an uncommon mash-up, though, either.
And, nah, it doesn't look like wear and tear. Granted, I'm very rarely behind a school bus and even less often looking at the brake lights, but I remember seeing that pattern many times before (I like patterns...). It's probably the most efficient method in terms of fewest elements necessary to make a large circular shape in low-light conditions. The probability that a pentagram, which is ultimately just a five-pointed star the likes of which every pre-schooler draws about 100 times a day, was placed there was some deliberate religious symbology is nil.

And I believe holy spirit's symbol is a dove. It is. The tongue of flame is a symbol, too. Most religions have a huge list of symbols, especially the ones that've been around for centuries.
Actually, the little secret no one wants to know is that symbols we associate with "evil," like the Nazi swastika or an upside-down cross, have all been used by religions, including Christianity, over the centuries. I'd need to double-check, but I'm almost certain the pentagram/pentacle/other types of five-pointed star has been a Christian symbol at some point with no meaning to its orientation. If there's a geometric shape that can conceivably have any meaning beyond "This is a regular, right-angled rhombus," it's been used by someone to indicate divinity.

Nope - a Pentagram is simply a 5 pointed star within a circle. There is no difference in length or an elongated bottom. The pentagram is used in many forms for many different reasons. By satanists, yes. Wiccans it is used many different ways.

***that was painful to watch!! I made it about 2/3rds through it. That said, I don't much care for insanity and stupidity, of which that woman seems quite taken with both. As for how painful it was to watch, I agree, more than anything however I fear for the children in that video. : /
