Any idea what this error means? I have the update downloaded, but it fails to install 100% of the time, all the time, on FFXimain.dll

http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/game-setup-tweeking-optimizing-q/64072-ffximain-dll-md5-requested.html from the quick glance over looks like the poor guy had to reinstall.... Hmm, after looking at that, I tried a little test. I renamed the FFXiMain.dll to "klj.dll" and it proceeded to download a new version of FFXiMain.dll, and everything installed great. (I couldn't delete it, because I have Authorization Privileges turned off on Vista)
Thanks for the help though. :) Ah you should tell Scragg/Alyria/Jaerik might be a handy trouble shooting tip :O

Just got this error for the july 2019 update - had to rename both files:
ffxi.dll and the ffximain.dll for the update to work.

I too just crashed on my main with a message that there was an update. My alt is fine, however.
I will attempt the above as I keep getting this error. They did a mini maint, any crash will be met with an update.

Do I have to log out of the my alt for this update to stop crashing?
I'm noob-tech anything, but I don't want to be locked out tonight. FFXiMain.dll fail to update is because you have more than just one on / doing update. Shutdown all 100 of your chars and do update on just one with 0 other logged on. Easy fix, been like this for years but still seems people cant remember anything.

But thanks! Ragnarok.Syrael said: » FFXiMain.dll fail to update is because you have more than just one on / doing update. if you semi crash out or get force dc and then log back in from playonline it will crash out again.
You have to start fresh after any interruption, close ffxi and windower and restart. I must not have had enough coffee this morning to notice that after windows updated to 20H2 the pop-up notifications turned back on when you run a program as admin which caused a glitch somewhere between windower and playonline ... everything is working fine once i turned off those notifications I got the update this morning for ffxi and now I get white screen then crash.
