Yes, but rather than making a thread on here wouldn't have been more simple to go to the official site and look at the required specs? or check lodestone?

This for me. I remember hearing a lot of people saying they had this problem back in 2010 but I can't remember what they did to sort it.
Only solution I remember seeing people do was reformatting which can take a while.

The problem with 2010 was a service pack that all 7 machines now have. Try verifying you are on SP1.

If you are, try making certain you have your UAC (User Account Control) turned off. The pop ups from it asking if you are "really, I mean really sure" you want to install programs sometimes pisses off their installer. The UAC can be found in control panel> account settings> user account control (at the bottom or left usually)

Turn the slider all the way to "never notify". If you already have both of these things, I can unfortunately be of no more help without actually seeing the problem first hand.

Hi there... I know about this Situation.

It's a problem with Direct X... you must install this here

Direct X Redist package

first you'll extract it to a place you know where to find and open the setup in there, then you'll wait till finished and restart your PC... then you should be able to install FF XIV smoothly... and before you open the Config of FFXIV pls start the normal Game.exe because there were also a problem with configuring the game before starting. ^_^

I hope I was able to help you and sorry for my bad english.

Can try...

With the game disc in your comp, in "Computer" (where it shows your hard drive and other drives) right click the disc drive the game is in and select Open.

then right click the "ffxivsetup" file and click properties.
Then in the "Compatibility" tab check in the "run this program in compatibility mode for:" box and select vista service pack 2.

Hit apply, then Ok then double click on "ffxivsetup" so it runs and see if it works that time.

I wonder if that packet will help all of us whom have the "Unable to detect DirectX device" crash after extended gameplay.

I think the issue is UAC, turn it off.

Never had his problem but I know a few who've had it because of UAC during the install.

Buy OEM copies not retail

http://www.amazon.com/Windows-Professional-64bit-System-Builder/dp/B004Q0T0LU

Those recovery discs are usually tied to a OEM key and bios. It wouldn't work without doing something illegal.
