I think all RDMs should strive for a Cure set that looks as similar to this as possible.


I've optimized a gear set which maximizes the most desirable priority stats for healing:

1)Cure Power
a)Cure Potency
b)Healing Skill
c)MND
d)VIT
2)Enmity-
3)Fast Cast

Some of the gear choices also keep in mind other uses for a piece for inventory purposes(i.e Staff Strap isn't the best -enmity piece available for that slot, but I use the +MP for Convert)



This set offers:
Cure Potency+50%
Healing Magic Skill+19
MND+42(+67 total with Gain-MND with 500 Enhancing Magic)
VIT+3
Enmity-50
Cure Spellcasting Time-15%
Fast Cast+2%
Conserve MP+5

This set might not be the exact best(could fiddle around with a few slots and pieces to min/max it) but this set WILL ensure that you receive optimal healing power, coupled with -50% enmity(which helps tremendously now that Cure IV can heal 850+) as well as a few other bonuses such as reduced cast time and conserve MP. You could also swap out to Augmented Zenith feet, however I prefer Cure Potency pieces that offer other beneficial stats i.e Tempered Cape vs Oretania's Cape(Tempered has +Healing Skill too) and the -7 Enmity from Estoq. Houseaux+2 is better than the +3-4 Potency and Casting time from Zenith if you can get the potency capped from other slots.

A few other considerations to mess around with:
Aife's Pumps(Enmity-8 Conserve MP+4)
Novia Earring(Enmity-7)
Laurel Wreath(Conserve MP+8)

Update: If you have Novia or something you can drop the Phrenic and pick up a Colossus/Healing Torque for 7 more Healing Skill for a slight boost or sacrifice a bit more enmity for the +2 Healing Skill grip. Or if you don't care about Enmity at all really, can get an Olympus Sash for +5 skill etc...

I want to see your other slots if you have room for the -inventory. Hyksos hat > Lenore's. Metanoia is trash, use trooper's or prolix if you want -enmity that badly, and neither penalizes you in the new cure formula.

Am I the only one wondering how on earth you have room for some of that stuff - like the pieces which are there for the -emn only.

I'm not even sure why you'd even need -50 tbh, dont have close to that much and I do just fine. Besides if you're bleeding for inv space it's not practical to have all that -enm specific gear anyway, but that's just my opinion

People are babies with enmity. I see this in the WHM threads as well where people think -enmity is what is required for the "perfect" cure sets. If you are taking hate off your dd's with cures, then your dd's suck.

as much as I love -enmity on whm and rdm, i don't think it should be put before fastcast unless you already hit capped fastcast. the hairpin is nice, but the 10% fastcast on rdm hat could mean the difference between a DD dropping to the floor or not, as RDM has to basically single target cure everyone (with the exception of gimped curagas or /sch aoe)

Back on 75, I'd agree on -enm beeing rather important for RDM cures.
Tanks did'nt always cap hate with 2 weaponskills, and hate decay was a real threat at times.
It's not so much the case anymore.
Just use the -enm gear you can fit in without killing your inventory in the progress, like gear you allready have with you.

A fairly optimal set for people without an Arka (because I know not too many people have the patience or time for that specific magian staff). Decent cure potency while still keeping fairly good -enm and not sacrificing any fastcast.

Personally I don't like Quick Magic in my cure sets, if it goes off it will screw you out of that 50% more hp cured. Doesn't matter in lolabyssea, but can matter outside.

I also feel if you are serious about curing, you should make the cure potency staff. Hell, I made that back when rdm was my only mage job.

Cure pot staff is, I personally think, is the easiest one to do.
It really only takes a few days of chill work.
Pixie bottle trial is somewhat boring, but that's it, really.

Lol, when I did bottled pixies I only had rdm, like I said. And no help. Picked up retrace scroll, OP'ed to Meri mountains, ran to Castle Oztroja zone, killed yag, used scroll, picked up another scroll, OP'ed to Grauberg, ran to the ??? and traded, used retrace scroll, rinse repeat. Took me forever to finish that part.

Thankfully I had a mule I could leave there.. ran back and forth on BLM :P got back just in time for a new spawn!

Looking at sets without Heka (stupid Akvan)

Working with this set:



(Cure pot2/Healing skill4 on feet)

Wondering:

A) If theres anywhere else to eek out that 5% potency without body. (I am aware of the 1? percent extra I can get on max feet augment.)

B) What kind of bonus the 15 healing magic skill will add if I don't need to use a potency body. (NQ is only 10 MND so use that for comparison, would switch to Heka if I got it.)

15 healing magic = +15 power
10 MND = +5 power
Difference is 10 power between the 2 pieces.

Depending on gear, healing magic and racial stats, you'd probably be around the 400+ mark.... uh would equate to roughly +4HP (cure4) pre-potency.

17 skill, 3 mnd, 3 vit versus 14mnd?

At best, it'd be 20power versus 7 power.
Net loss of 13 power.

Would be about 5 hp pre-potency.

So looking at that graph, I'd say for CureIV you want to at least push past 400 power, where it kind of levels off.

So, I can save another 2 slots by switching back to MNDx2 rings:

Yes, which I do. I just don't see 3 MND worth another invo slot for the second earring if I don't need roundel. Plus I can take advantage of the (tiny, if any) reduction in recast if I leave loq. in.
