If you have 5/5 DE, recast timer is 5 min, 7.5 min if you only go 4/5, which would leave you with 1/5 for DS if you chose that route.

Not sure which is better tbh:

3 min of +20 acc every 10 minutes with more survivability since you're not taking as big a hit to your max HP

or

3 min of +20 acc every 5 (or 7.5) min with a bigger hit to max HP

I'd prefer the latter @5/5 but the former if 4/5 under the old effects.

Weird, they were supposed to reduce recast timers to the 5/5 level. I wonder if the entire Diabolic Eye post is a mistake?

Nice find, this is great then. I was wondering why the other updates were giving the recast timers for 5/5 merits.

What are the thoughts on distributing merits now for Cat 2?

Thinking:
5/5 DB
4/5 DE
1/5 DS

Is it worth moving some from DE to DS to gain some fast cast in exchange for HP%?

My guess is
-15% HP at 1/5
-12% HP at 2/5
-9% HP at 3/5
-6% HP at 4/5
-3% HP at 5/5

Yeah I feel better about this now.

With DS being perma 5min it might be worth 1 merit now.

Diabolic Eye at 5 mins, and 5/5 reduces max HP Loss up to -3%

Dark Seal is perma-5 mins and 5/5 gives one spell a maximum of 50% Fast Cast for Dark Magic

I like the Diabolic Eye fix mostly. Hopefully they slap a duration on Dark Seal though, if they consider this to be our Fast Cast option...sucks it only works for one spell every 5 minutes D:

I can only see DS worth taking past 1/5 if it actually reduced recast timer as well. Can anyone confirm if that is also lost in translation, or is it really only casting time?

They reduced most 10 to 20-minute abilities to 5 permanently, so Dark Seal is at 5 minutes maximum recast. The only thing they exchanged was from reduced recast to reduced casting time

Hi Edyth,

Thanks for bringing up these errors. You're correct in that it the Diabolic Eye recast should be reduced to 5 minutes (not 10) and I've fixed that. As for your second point, I am double checking with the Localization team, but I believe it should be "but instead reduce the maximum HP down effect by 20% per point." I'll edit that part after I get confirmation!

Edit: As we thought, you were right about the adjustment and the offending text has been fixed on the notes! ("Additional merit points will no longer reduce recast time, but instead lessen the maximum HP down effect by 20% per point.")

I meant the recast time of the spell you use with Dark Seal, not the job ability itself. Just want to see if maybe that was also a typo, that it's 10% fast cast instead of just reduced casting time. Would it be like the Elemental Celerity trait, which does not affect the recast timer of the spell used?

Yeah that's exactly what I mean. There's no sense in making it just a one-time casting deal every five minutes with this job if you're casting for something like VW D:

DS 5/5 would be good for Dark magic spells that are difficult to cast in the middle of fighting.

I can see uses for:

Dreadspikes - Sucks when you need to get it cast but keep getting interupted.

Impact - Would be a nice way to nearly fastcast yourself into 100 tp and massive debuffs onto the mob. Debuffs can last for up to 3 minutes and the massive Zerg that ensues afterwards with entropy if you have it is a great way to get all that MP back, for the next round.

Maybe 5/5 DS and 5/5 DB is the way to go....

EDIT: Hmmmm scratch that, wiki says Impact is ELEMENTAL magic???

EDIT again: Can anyone tell me if Dark seal works on dark based magic at all, or if it absolutely needs to be Dark magic.

I would like the idea of a fixed Fast Cast where the merit level determines the duration, not potency.

Dark Seal: Recast 5min. Enhances Magic Accuracy of the next Dark Magic spell cast, with no effect on potency. Dark Magic Fast Cast 15% for a duration of one additional spell per merit level.

or

Dark Seal: Recast 5min. Enhances Magic Accuracy of the next Dark Magic spell cast, with no effect on potency. Dark Magic Fast Cast 15% for a duration of an additional 20sec. per merit level.
