i was wondering 2 thing for that skill to skill up.... i know i have to spam some enhancing spell so i will get skill up but if i cast Protect 1 or protect 5 does it change the chance to get a skill up or the tier "difficulty" of the spell doesn't matter?

and how much long it take approximatly to go from a lvl 75 rdm enhancing to 95...? (i know this is realy long i just want some time approximatly to don't depress lol ).

i play rdm only every day since lvl cap increase and im still not capped :< i say don't worry and it'll cap eventually, or else you need to make a script/skillup thing that were not allowed to talk about.

okay that is what i was doing casting bar spell i was just wasn't sure that if some spell give mor chance to get skill up but seem no thx for the info all! will work on it like crazy... yay! lol

If you use Spellcast, there's you can use a skill up script to continually cast for you (you can go to bed and stuff!).

Friend capped Healing Magic like that on WHM >_>; Then he found out Cursna isn't affected by it XD

Barspells works just fine. If you're using the job enough after a certain level it'll just catch up through normal playtime. Honestly, I never separately took time to skill up enhancing on my WHM mule and it's pretty much at cap.. I really don't know what people are doing that they have to spend hours running a script. Maybe I just play too much.

According to SE, made me cry after I'd almost finished my Healing Magic set (though my friends swear my Cursna's always got rid of doom better than any other WHM's they hung around with >_> Eyeballs are eyeballing!)

oh i have another question!

Phalanx 1 is more poten then phalanx 2 right? i mean if i put 5 merit on phalanx 2 and i have supose capped enhancing..... does phalanx 2 will be better? i use the ffxi calculator but i don't know if the formula have change for phalanx 2 and will beat phalanx 1 so i have like some debate with some ppl that says that phalanx 2 is better then the first one but i'm pretty sure the first one is better.... can some ppl says what is right?

Phalanx does have a higher damage cap than Phalanx II. It's not by a huge amount though, so it probably doesn't matter which one you use.

Huh. I was always told that Phalanx was 1-2 higher than Phalanx II even with capped merits and whatnot. But maybe I'm wrong.

Ahh yea, I was wrong. I guess Phalanx caps ate -32 damage. I was unaware it could go higher than 30 since all the level cap increases.

I'm pretty sure Phalanx doesn't have a hard cap at the moment. One was assumed at 75 because the formula changed after 300 and it wasn't possible to reach the minimum necessary required to negate 31 damage on an attack.

Easy enough for someone to test... With simply capped skill, damage should be around 35. If thats true, with some simple gear you could get to around 430+ skill, without merits. Bumping negated damage to almost 40. Worth someone testing, I just don't feel like logging on right now xD

I know the amount of skill needed to add additional damage reduction has gone up significantly but I haven't played on my rdm in months so I hadn't even finished skilling up enhancing magic yet to do any tests...

I can get 466 enhancing skill, if this cactuar ever uses 1k Needles I'll let you know how much damage it takes off.

EDIT: Used it right as I hit submit. 967 damage, or a 33 damage reduction.

Yeah, I don't have Phalanx II merited. There's definitely not a cap at the values mentioned though, if somebody wants to mess around and find the new equations for each then knock yourselves out.

33 is the expected reduction from 445 skill. If the formula doesn't change further, 34 damage reduction will be possible at 474 skill.

If anyone was curious, I ran out and got some 1000 needles numbers.

28 damage reduction was 300 skill. I can guarantee you that from years ago but I can't get my skill that low to prove it anymore.

325 skill = 972 damage taken, or 28 damage reduction.
332 skill = 971 damage taken, or 29 damage reduction.

Meaning the first increase after 300 skill is between 26 and 32 skill.

357 skill = 971 damage taken.
363 skill = 970 damage taken.

Meaning if it were linear after 300 it'd have to be at least 29 skill and at most 31. I'm pretty sure 29 is correct, but I'll skill up one level and prove it. Edit: Yeah. 29.

Formula after 300 is floor((Skill-300)/29)+28. No hard cap.

Skill / 29 + 28 > if over 300. (And not with the Skill - 300 ?)

393 / 29 = 13.5 + 28 = 41
