Hello there. I'm a new thf and really love the job. I've spent the last month or so gearing it up as best as I can but I have a question about something in particular. I'm very bad at this sort of thing but I'd like bring it to you guys rather than someone in-game.

A few weeks ago I acquired a Light Belt, which as far as I know, works with Evisceration. My question is this... Should I be wearing this for SA and TA weaponskill, or stick with +DEX/AGI waists? Inside and out of abyssea. I use it right now on regular WS, but not sure if I should be on SA/TA or not. Thank you for reading.

P.S. When not pulling, do you prefer the Raider's boomerang or Crit dmg tathlum?

when you aren't pulling, Raider's Boomerang will still do more for you than Qiriz. The only place tathlum would really help overpoweringly is when brewing a physical WS or SA/TA/SATA to boost your dmg

or for a different job

Thank you for the information, that's very helpful.

OK. I'm assuming you mean SA and regular WS only, right? Or is it just the best overall for Evisceration?

As an aside, here are my gear sets if anyone has any suggestions they'd like to make. I'd appreciate that very much. There are a few obvious things which I'm already aware of, such as upgrading to +4/7 stat earrings/rings.

TP (Edit: Twilight is in main hand, not sure how it came out that way.)

Evisceration without TA or SA

Cuchulain's for unstacked and SA, unless you're using assassin's charge, then use chiner's.

Atheling Mantle for unstacked WS. Agasaya's for TP, Rancor for WS, Lithe Boots for WS, AF3 legs for WS.
Unless you're not constantly meleeing a mob, not stacking your WS is going to be better in the long run.

Brutal Earring on the left and Suppanomimi on the right.

Where would anguinus belt place itself VS an ele belt and Cuchulain's for Evis?

*Toreador to Eponas for TP

*Keep atheling for WS. Cavaros is only a piddly 3% crit boost for crits and does NOTHING for the ones that dont. Thf is still in the hole for atk compared to mobs and other jobs. 20atk will have similar and often better returns on crit hits, and actually works on non-crit hits of evis as well putting it way over the top. Thats before you count the DA.

*Get an agasaya collar to replace PCC.

*Dont TA in Svelte. -8atk sucks. Get a crudelis. 5str/5agi. Loosing 2 agi (2 base damage), get 10.5 atk, 5str (1.25 base damage). In total, you will gain 10-11 atk in exchange for nothing 25% of the time and -1 base damage the other 75% of the time. Complete win.

*AF+1 hands from limbus for TA

*Lithe boots for Evis over denali. 6dex(3acc) beats 3str and 5 acc. Dex is point for point the same as Str for evis, except dex cant cap. So 6 dex is 2x more powerful than 3 str and worth the loss of 2 acc and 1-2 atk. Plus, it simplifies stacked vs unstacked sets a bit. If possible, get Heca+1 feet and augment them. Mine are currently 9str, 4dex, 5atk. You can get up to 10 str.

*Ambusher's hose for TA. Agi+10 pants. No shocker there.

*Cuchulain's belt for both SA and Evis. As others have said, its good. 6 dex is great and 10 atk is superb. Thf always needs more atk.

*general upgrade: +2 Empy gear, better +stat ear/rings, all that good stuff that is rather obvious.

These changes should set you up rather nicely.

Thank you everyone for the help. I appreciate any bit of advice I can get.

Aanalaty, I just wanted to let you know what you had to say was especially insightful. I wasn't aware of the STR/DEX difference on Evisceration. Guess I've been doing it wrong this whole time, lol.

If you don't mind the 10% damage taken, rancor collar is great for your TP set too. You could also upgrade to a better main-hand weapon (95 Kilas should be amazing right now compared to just about everything else bar twash/mandau/coruscanti).

Changed a few things around and got an Agasaya's collar. Just to be safe, since no one mentioned it... Am I better off with Agasaya's or Spike on SA? Until I get a better DEX neck at least.

TP

Evis

SA

TA

My instincts tell me Spike Necklace.

Because its really 3STR/3DEX vs 6/7 attack.

But I'd wait for someone to confirm.

I'd be happy. Very high base damage, not a terrible delay, 10 extra dex to Boost Rudra's and more importantly a free +4% Crit rate increase in a single piece.

Care to share where it drops from?

Replaced by Occasionally Deals Severe Damage.

Which is likely a 5% rate to deal more damage than a Critical would offer.

Still, Would be nice to have that on there still :( for obvious reasons.

Unless that bonus can proc on WS then fk it.

The aura weapons are Zilart T3's equivalent of the old T4 and Jeuno T3 Ensphere bodies as droprates go. The NQ versions aren't all that common either - I'd wager they're about the same as Ganesha's Mala and Langeliek. Nice to dream, but good luck actually getting your glowy weapon...

After *Bleeping* on the official Forum...

Insaniac on the Official forums confirmed that the JP Version shows the Critical hit Rate +5%

Seems to just be another typo with the NA Version.
