If you're fighting a NM that needs magic dmg protection, you'll need more elemental resist than any reasonable job/atma combo can provide. Even if you get -100, barspell and carolx2 the results will not be as consistent as a strait up 50 MDB bonus. At the most its situational but its hardly debatable.
Resist is always a roll of the dice.
MDB is always constant.

No it's not. Shell alone is enough to survive any magic attack from any NM inside abyssea.

Besides, the only NM I've ever needed magic EVA atmas for in Abyssea is Tunga. It's not necessary for anything else :|
Not necessary for Tunga either if you lock his 2hr.

I've had disgorge hit full for 3000+ with over 240 earth resist on Glav with shell. Status effects are one thing, you need Magic evasion for that but if you're talking raw dmg you're always better with MDB.
