This has prolly been stated before but i just reached Shinryu stage last night after finishing off my caturae and im wondering when i get Apoc Atma what i should sub out, or even if should be using it to being with. Right now i use RR, VV, and GH so do you people think i should stick with these or sub in Apoc for VV or GH. Your thoughts and reasoning for it would be much appreciated.

There are so many of these threads now.
Depends on the job.
Occasionally depends on the mob.
Sometimes depends on the event.

If your just an EXP party RR VV Apoc works wonders on 'most' jobs.
For SAM you may want to use Smiting blow instead of Apoc. If your an RNG, can switch out a couple of them for Drifter and or SA, ect.

More details so people can better answer your questions.

Sub out VV. You just might be still capping fstr on kat with so more like just getting 25 att from that part. You already have alot of double attack now so that isn't as good as it used to be. Regain is nicish.

GH offers decent amount of crit hit rate which is pretty important for dps and ws. The agi helps your evasion and subtle blow and Blade Hi dmg and counter even helps now and then

Why no smiting blow for fudo? It's ftp goes way up with tp. Yeah yeah I know att blah blah. And I bet you RR will add more dmg overall than apoc especially if you are using VV still

Damage Multipliers by TP:
100%TP 200%TP 300%TP
3.65 -----?------5.75

I think you're insane if you think Smiting blow wont boost Fudo by a decent margin. For people who care to WS at 100%~200% that is. Waste if you WS any later imo.

For NIN DD, I use A&O, RR, VV

For NIN tanking, I use RR, VV, and GH

For NIN soloing, I use RR, VV, and GH (unless the mob is a caster, or has effects beyond my control. I will then swap out VV for something else.)

That's just what I use, though. Other people may be different.

Fudo has a 200% fTP of 4.65. So it's quite simple, adding Smiting Blow increases your WS damage by 27%, and your melee damage by 0%.

Stout arm adds 40 STR(24 base damage to fudo, via multipliers), and 80 atk. With just VV and Apoc, you're going to be TPing in around 250 STR and 700 ATK, and WSing in about 300 STR and 750 ATK.

WS base damage without SA is (300*.6)+(126) = 306
WS base with SA is (340+.6)+126 = 330

Assuming a level 97ish target, it should have somewhere around 375 def, after dia2. So without SA, you're looking at a level corrected cRatio of 1.65. With SA, it's going to be 1.86.

306*1.65=504 damage before FTP applied
330*1.86=613 damage before FTP applied

So stout arm increases your WS damage by 21.5%. And thats ONLY your WS damage. The melee damage increase puts it well beyond smiting blow.

Well the topic was about Ninja!

As much as I love SAM, a Ninja forum isn't the place for Fudo talk.

Edit: For Ninja I primarily use RR/GH/Apoc.

Yea that's what hinted me! Then I checked his profile.

/facepalm

@ Caitsith.Ayrea
Thanks for the insight! I'll keep those mechanics in mind from now on.
Also I'd assume smiting blows Double Attack would increases fudo's chance to proc double damage? Or is that a totally different attribute of the WS. Even so. Double attacking while it does damage damage would leave you with 4xs as much damage?

Ninja all-out damage: RR/A&O/Apoc
Ninja balanced damage (overall best): RR/GH/Apoc
then swap stuff in&out as necessary. VV does little for NIN compared to A&O/GH.

Smiting Blow is only 100 TP bonus and WS Acc. Double attack (from brutal, /war, VV) and triple attack (from Apoc) are basically just a fTP boost of 1(DA) or 2(TA) to the WS, assuming the hits land. Unlike the initial attack, DA/TA/QuadAttack procs during a WS are subject to the regular accuracy checks.

As for the "Double Damage" description of Fudo, that doesn't actually impact anything; the "double damage" aspect is reflected in the high fTP. Double/Triple attack damage isn't doubled.

Also, double damage from aftermath is unable to activate during WS, only on regular swings.

for solo i use:-
GH RR Apoc

for events/rare exp:-
GH RR Apoc

For NMs that cast heavy deadly nukes i use:-
RR Apoc Brotherwolf

Cloack and dagger is also a nice alternative for soloing for the EVA if needed

basically RR and apoc are always what i use for NIN and the 3rd is situational.

can still put out average 2-3k on T3 NMd without GH on

Apoc is extremely useful for ninja, as the benefit greatly for all 3 bonuses. The TA+15% is obvious. The auto-reraise allows you to get up, Mijin, get up again, and be ready to keep fighting. The quick-magic can save your *** when it procs on utsusemi. Even if it does not turn out to be the best DPS atma, the utility of it should keep it in your selection always.
