Even when you make your own ingots, farm your own materials, the value of the ingots (and your TIME) is still relevant.
A better way to look at it is accepting the loss on this simple and available recipe gets your skillups faster saving you time on later levels, and time is money.
But thinking you come out ahead buy not buying ingredients isn't always correct.
Kinda silly how people think it is stupid or an oversight or something that this is made from copper and brass, dispite the "99.9% pure" description. It is clearly a joke on SE's part. :P
For Goldsmithers out there... this is the cheapest synth to get u to the gold stage of ingots.(unless u can make reraise earrings, but even then, they only cap at 45)

Dont be lazy, synth ur own ingots and u WILL break even. This is the ONLY GS synth for 40-47 that can do this.

It's a joke. Brass can often be mistaken for gold when treated right, mix/toss in some cheap copper for substance and pass it off as "99.9% Pure"
Unless you run some tests, it's hard to visually tell the difference.
Absolutely amazing, gold from copper and brass which contains copper. But you must not forget that this is Vana'diel, a magical world which only survives through the power of the crystal.
