FFXI Reference in another game
cant forget this: http://kotaku.com/new-mmorpg-ends-service-folks-think-they-know-why-1789033851
In all seriousness, I am guessing Hexa Strike in that game is probably a coincidence. I played Tales of Berseria and yeah that character is not a whm. I didn't control her a lot so I don't really remember what hexa strike looks like but considering she wields a spear I'm guessing it resembled Drakesbane more than anything.
The japanese name is pretty different from the FFXI name so if anything, maybe it was just the translator.
Sometimes run into FFXI 2ch meme's in anime, play too much XI to really notice it in other games, hehe. The healer using a club I think comes from older RPG games like D&D, where some cleric classes don't get to use bladed weapons, something about not spilling blood (although breaking bones seems fine...).
For more direct references there are things like the Skullgirls announcer saying stuff like "Impossible to gauge!" when someone wins a match with a certain amount of life left, and IIRC the Ms Fortune character (who's a catgirl) has a palette based on the WAR AF. Asura.Lordwmd

They don't call it Final Fantasy XI, but its pretty obvious, even in the anime with all the changes they made. This show's about a guy who is afraid to leave his apartment, and has quit life, this episode and the one after are about when he plays FFXI. |
